Lessons learned from public servants who undermined Trump's first term and what we can do within the government to save Democracy from MAGA fascism during his second term
But this time around all the media, the FBI, the CIA the Supreme Court and the entire GOP is controlled by trump...will have to be a very different resistance with many many brave folks who, as some have said, are willing to die. Please share some concrete things we can do, especially those of us with limited income. It seems questionable if more than just a few elected Dems will actually stand up to trump so we need to do something on our own. I think there is a possibility that some members of congress and the senate have an inkling that their races in 2026 will be close and they may lose no matter how much gerrymandering/voter supression is done so we need to put together a list of those most vulnerable and start to work now to let them know we will be supporting their opponents in upcoming elections. This may become easier as the impact of tariffs and bloody mass deportations become known to all (the maga faithful will still not care but I believe there are a lot of folks who vote for trump only because they believed he would bring prices down). Between imprisoning all the undocumented workers waiting for a way to get them somewhere, and all the folks already on trump's revenge list there just won't be room in prisons for all the people who should be part of the resistance, and at least for now there will continue to be judges who will support the actions of the resistance which will all be within the parameters of the Constitution and therefore legal and the SC will not have the time to hear every single case and reverse the decision of every single lower court. But we need to start now to organize and I for one need direction on how to do this, what organizations to support.
I think these are some very good ideas. I have a dumb question even though I always told my students there is no such thing as a dumb question. How will the media know we are doing an inauguration blackout? I do watch Meidas Touch Network and do not want to boycott them for even a day. Maybe they will join this movement and not broadcast anything about the inauguration. To be honest, I never watch any news or regular TV anyway (well I do watch the Colbert show sometimes). I love the idea of getting tickets and not going....I will be contacting my MOCs (but to be honest I do not think they will send me tickets as I've written in the past with concerns about their total support of trump). This post is so right on target about the Dem party, and I hope many will see it and start to take some actions, no matter how small, but the more the better for sure. I also think referring to musk as president musk and never referring to trump as president will get to trump also. And, say what you will about the Dems, Meidas Touch did what I consider a great interview with Biden...now that may show my biases, but it was a wonderful contrast to anything the mainstream media ever did on him, and such a pleasure to see an interview with a president that did not need to have a fact check part and did not involve rambling non answers.
I'm not sure how television venues would gauge their audience (short of the old Nielsen ratings), but Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, any online cable providers, would have computer logarithms to measure viewership.
I like your idea of calling Musk, rather than Trump, President!
Stopped all msm. Retired with limited income. Have disabled adult child and 30 yo who can’t afford or find housing. Looking for what I can afford to support for News and information. This is terrifying.
Not just his cabinet but the majority of congress. Maybe by just one person but enough to pass most of his policies. At a minimum we need to work at a state level so see that states do not implement his policies. I am not sure what the SC will do with a national abortion ban, seems like they leaned towards states' rights, and hopefully they will lean that way many things and while that will allow many states to go back to the days of slavery (insert any unconstitutional act you want instead of slavery) at least there will continue to be states where there is liberty and justice for all.
This is absolutely superb, and far more helpful than the incessant, misplaced outrage and continuous circular firing squads.
I will be paying far more attention to this kind of thing and far less, or no, attention to those who continue to bitch about the Democratic Party, inasmuch they might deserve it.

My concern is that Trump is filling his cabinet with sycophants that will do his bidding and push his agenda through anyway.
