How To Subvert Trump's Second Term
Lessons learned from public servants who undermined Trump's first term and what we can do within the government to save Democracy from MAGA fascism during his second term
My Fellow Americans,
The time has come to resist.
During Trump's first term, there were many several instances where unelected officials undermined his administration's policies. They played a significant role in throwing sand in the gears of his first term through investigations, leaks, whistleblowers, bureaucratic resistance, and judicial decisions. These actions are justified as a means of checking the executive branch's power. Today’s post will highlight some of the key examples. Take heart that many public servants like me will do everything we can to subvert the orange menace and his fascist bootlickers.
1. FBI and DOJ Investigations
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) were involved in several investigations that undermined Trump's fist administration, including:
The Russia investigation led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, which Trump claimed was a "witch hunt" orchestrated by the "deep state."
The investigation into Trump's former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, which led to Flynn's resignation and later guilty plea.
2. Leaks and Whistleblowers
Several high-profile leaks and whistleblowers damaged the Trump administration's reputation and undermined its policies, including:
The leak of classified information about Trump's conversations with foreign leaders, which led to the resignation of National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
The whistleblower complaint by the heroic Lt. Col.
that triggered the impeachment inquiry into Trump's dealings with Ukraine.
3. Bureaucratic Resistance
Some career bureaucrats were accused of resisting Trump's policies and decisions, including:
The State Department's refusal to implement Trump's travel ban, which was later overturned by the courts.
The Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) slow-walking of Trump's deregulation agenda.
4. Federal Judges
Federal judges also played a significant role in undermining Trump's policies, including:
The injunctions against Trump's travel ban, which were later overturned by the Supreme Court.
The ruling against Trump's decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
History repeats - we must always fight fascism and be anti-fascist.
But this time around all the media, the FBI, the CIA the Supreme Court and the entire GOP is controlled by trump...will have to be a very different resistance with many many brave folks who, as some have said, are willing to die. Please share some concrete things we can do, especially those of us with limited income. It seems questionable if more than just a few elected Dems will actually stand up to trump so we need to do something on our own. I think there is a possibility that some members of congress and the senate have an inkling that their races in 2026 will be close and they may lose no matter how much gerrymandering/voter supression is done so we need to put together a list of those most vulnerable and start to work now to let them know we will be supporting their opponents in upcoming elections. This may become easier as the impact of tariffs and bloody mass deportations become known to all (the maga faithful will still not care but I believe there are a lot of folks who vote for trump only because they believed he would bring prices down). Between imprisoning all the undocumented workers waiting for a way to get them somewhere, and all the folks already on trump's revenge list there just won't be room in prisons for all the people who should be part of the resistance, and at least for now there will continue to be judges who will support the actions of the resistance which will all be within the parameters of the Constitution and therefore legal and the SC will not have the time to hear every single case and reverse the decision of every single lower court. But we need to start now to organize and I for one need direction on how to do this, what organizations to support.
