A Poem for Jacob Frey
The Minneapolis Mayor is bravery standing up for immigrant communities
My Fellow Democracy Defenders,
Mayor Jacob Frey is protecting immigrants from ICE. The Gestapo Nazis have no place in Minneapolis. I have written a poem as a tribute to his bravery.
In Minneapolis’ heart, where the rivers converge,
Stands Jacob Frey, with courage immense,
A bulwark against chaos, a beacon emerges,
Defender of democracy, fierce in defense!
When riots raged wild and the flames licked the sky,
He faced down the fury, unyielding, upright,
Upholding the vote, the law’s sacred tie,
While foes sought to shatter the democratic light.
To Somali kin from distant shores who came,
He extends open arms, a brother’s embrace,
In markets of East Africa, their stories aflame,
He champions their dreams in this new-found space.
With policies woven of equity’s thread,
He fights for their voices, their homes, and their pride,
Against hate’s bitter storm, he steadfastly treads,
A mayor, a mentor, with justice as guide.
Brave Frey, unbowed by the tempest’s cruel test,
You guard the ballot, the immigrant’s song;
In your vigilant watch, our hopes find their rest,
Hail, hero of harmony, forever strong!

Thank you for this and to all those protecting those without a vote and voice.
Hail, hero of harmony, forever strong!
