A Poem for Stacey Abrams
The Sentinel of Suffrage stands up for voting right against MAGA fascism
My Fellow Democracy Defenders,
Stacey Abrams should have been Governor of Georgia. After her election was stolen by MAGA white supremacist Brian Kemp, she persisted. She has built voter registration organizations that are turning Georgia blue. I wrote a poem inspired by her bravery and wisdom. Hope she runs for office again!
When shadows creep where ballots lie,
And falsehoods stain the voting ground,
There stands a voice that will not shy—
Where Stacey Abrams makes her stand.
She sees the gears of fascism grind,
The whispers Trump and demagogues deploy:
“Your vote is lost! The system’s blind!
Don’t trust the count, just step aside!”
But Stacey knows a lie takes root
When truth is choked by planned neglect.
She fights the purge, the ID trap,
The closed polling places, stark and grim.
With Fair Fight born from Georgia’s gap,
She registers ten thousand more
Restoring hope to every door
Where disenfranchisement had dimmed.
When disinformation’s toxic rain
Floods social feeds with poisoned claims
“They stole it! Fraud!”—a baseless pain,
She counters with unyielding facts,
Armed with data, law, and grace.
No reckless myth escapes her tracks;
She shines the light on every trace.
She knows democracy’s true core
Is every citizen’s equal say.
So when the strong would slam the door,
She builds a bridge along the way.
From rural roads to city streets,
She teaches power hand-in-hand:
“Your voice matters, defeat the cheats!
Take back the future, take a stand!”
When cynics scoff and autocrats sneer,
And doubt is weaponized with spite,
Her courage casts out every fear,
A beacon burning ever-bright.
For every vote suppressed, restored,
For every lie she’s dared expose,
Stacey Abrams has fiercely swore:
Our freedom grows when every vote goes counted.
So praise the Sentinel who’ll never yield,
Defending ballots, truth, and weald!
Against the dark, her purpose steeled:
Democracy — protected, sealed.

Lovely tribute to a courageous, wise leader. Thank you!
Brilliant tribute. The Fair Fight approach really showed how persistent grassroots organizing can rebuild trust in communities facing systemic exclusion. I saw someting similar in my local district where consistent outreach actualy flipped voter turnout patterns. The key insight is that registration alone doesn't matter if people don't believe their vote counts.
