Mike Waltz and Pete Hegseth Must Resign
Public servants demand accountability for incompetent fascists to resign over SignalGate
My Fellow Democracy Defenders,
Mike Waltz and Pete Hegseth have put our national security in danger. As a civil servant, I would be fired over what they did. They should resign and be held accountable to the citizens of our sacred democracy.
The recent scandal surrounding the use of the encrypted messaging app Signal by Waltz and Hegseth has raised serious questions about transparency, accountability, and the integrity of public officials. Dubbed "SignalGate," this controversy has exposed a disturbing pattern of behavior by Waltz and Hegseth. They have leveraged their positions of trust to conduct official business in secret, circumventing the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and undermining the public's right to know.
The facts are stark. Waltz and Hegseth, along with several other high-ranking officials including JD Vance, used Signal to communicate with each other. These messages, demonstrate a clear intent to avoid transparency and accountability. By using an encrypted app that allows for ephemeral messaging, Waltz and Hegseth have deliberately sought to conceal their communications from the public eye.
The implications of SignalGate are far-reaching and profound. As public officials, Waltz and Hegseth have a fiduciary duty to act in the best interests of the American people. By using Signal to conduct official business, they have abdicated this responsibility, prioritizing their own interests over those of the citizens they serve. This behavior is a betrayal of the public trust and a clear violation of the principles of transparency and accountability that underpin our democratic system.
Moreover, the use of Signal by Waltz and Hegseth raises serious concerns about the potential for corruption and abuse of power. By communicating in secret, they have created an environment in which undue influence, quid pro quo, and other forms of malfeasance can thrive. The lack of transparency and oversight inherent in Signal's design makes it impossible to determine whether they have engaged in such behavior, further eroding the public's trust in government.
In light of these findings, it is imperative that they esign from their positions immediately. Their actions have demonstrated a clear disregard for the principles of transparency and accountability, and their continued presence in public life undermines the integrity of the institutions they serve.
Furthermore, their resignation is necessary to restore the public's faith in government. The American people deserve to know that their elected officials are working in their best interests, not their own. By stepping down, Waltz and Hegseth can begin to repair the damage caused by SignalGate and allow for a renewed focus on transparency and accountability in government.
Their actions are a betrayal of the public trust and a clear violation of the principles of transparency and accountability. To restore the integrity of our democratic institutions, Waltz and Hegseth must resign, and a new era of transparency and accountability must begin. The American people demand nothing less.
Just as an additional aside -- they've been using gmail, instead of encrypted channels dedicated for the purpose. Not only does this allow bad actors (you know, like PUTIN) to access their messages, it ALSO allows them to avoid all FOIA requirements. THAT I suspect, as you've pointed out, is the purpose of using easily hackable systems.
Since their obvious goal IS to avoid accountability, it's not a stretch to conclude they are doing so for nefarious purposes.
It’s good to see that they weren’t able to simply let this drop from the public eye. These are serious violations of trust, and they cannot be swept under the rug. The resignations of Waltz and Hegseth are merely a starting point. Every person on that Signal chat should be held accountable, they have all violated the Presidential Records Act.
